Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all.
We’ve had a great break and have been lucky enough to have two sets of lovely guests in the Barn for the two Christmas weeks. Sadly, for the children, it hasn’t been a white Christmas and in fact has been remarkably mild and overcast.
I personally did rather well out of Christmas, receiving a fabulous Canon 400D digital SLR camera. I’ve decided to undertake a small project whereby I will take photographs of the local area, every day for the next year. This will ensure regular new content for the website (and hopefully increased traffic) as well as improving my currently non-existent photography skills. To this end, I have enrolled on a 3-day course at a local photography school which starts towards the end of February – expect a considerable improvement in photo quality from March onwards!
So, here’s the first picture for the year:

It was so dark all day and I was a little the worse for wear so this is a view of Ecton Hill from the back door of Ivy House Farm using my new camera on fully automatic settings. I promise the pictures will get better through the year!
