Perfect Peak District Car
5th January 2010 · No Comments
When we first bought our Peak District cottage, we were told you don’t really need a 4×4 here, because climate change meant that there were only a couple of days a year when it might snow.
This turned out to be true – until this Christmas.
Luckily we have our trusty steed, the Subaru Impreza Sport.
We’ve owned this remarkable car for over 7 years and it has really, truly, never let us down.
I had a Turbo version back in ’99 which I loved, but its awesome power and fat tyres were no match for a snowy lane.
With the 2.0l Sport model, you get permanent All Wheel Drive, a low ratio gearbox and skinny tyres with smooth power delivery – in other words the perfect car for snowy conditions in the Peak District.
You can pick up one of these beauties on eBay for under £1000 and you will never part with it once you have one.
No amount of money would buy ours and will we keep it until it dies.
So well done Subaru and what a shame you chose to employ a committee of vision-impaired bureaucrats to design the new one.
