A slow start
For the first couple of weeks in July, the team was tied up re-roofing our bothy and, thank goodness, the weather held out.
The remaining weeks in July saw the re-instatement of what would be the front door. This involved Pete and Henry finding matching pairs of stones to serve as quoins. Henry then dressed the stone in the traditional way with a single line bordering a dimpled central area. A new threshold was installed and it was great to be able to walk through the opening for the first time!

By the end of the month, the whole barn had been pointed. We were very excited by the number of people who commented on just how good the stonework and pointing now looked - Pete and the lads can be extremely proud of what they have achieved.

In the last week of July, the foul drainage pipe had to be laid and connected to our existing foul water sytem. We are very lucky to be on mains drainage as many rural properties have to rely on septic tanks.

Laying the pipe invloved digging a long strip out of the lawn and our son Oscar was delighted to be allowed to sit in the mini digger during a break!
