Everything You Need To Know About Your Stay
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Our standard changeover day is Friday.
Cleaning the Barn takes anywhere up to 5 hours and so we ask that you arrive after 3pm on your first Friday and leave before 10am on your final Friday if at all possible.
Where we don't have guests staying before or after you, there is some leeway in these times.
Please call us a couple of days before you are due to stay, to let us know approximately when you plan to arrive.
HEATING, LOGS, ETC.
The Barn has oil central heating which you can control using thermostatic valves on the radiators and via a central thermostat.
We set the times for the heating but just let us know if you need the time changing.
We provide a small electric oil radiator for supplementary heating - guests with babies and young children find this most useful.
The wood-burner in the Barn takes logs only, which we provide free of charge (not many guests use the woodburner as the Barn is so warm and well insulated!)
For emergency bottles of milk, bread and numerous other essentials, Judy at the Hulme End village shop (1 ½ miles) has one of just about anything imaginable. She is open from about 7am to 8pm.
Slightly larger village stores are available in Hartington (4 miles) including a post office, cheese shop and antiques place.
For supermarkets, you have a choice of Co-op and Morrisons in Leek (8 miles), Waitrose and Morrisons in Buxton (10 miles), Sainsbury's in Ashbourne (12 miles) and Tesco in Macclesfield (14 miles).
Tesco deliver to us so if you log into your Tesco account and use our postcode (SK17 0JJ), we're happy to receive your shopping before you arrive and put stuff in the fridge and freezer.
Closest is Hartdale Motors in Hartington (4 miles) who are open 8am to 6pm weekdays and 9am to 1pm Saturdays.
Obviously all the local towns have petrol stations with 24hr provision.
There is a surgery in Hartington with doctors on call pretty much all the time.
